tempo: 124 (31 bars to the minute)

ribbons: approximately 3-4 feet with metal rings on ends to allow for easy gripping.  before the dance, the ribbons are folded with the rings hanging down and then tucked into the middle dancers kilt waistband.  at the start of the music, the middle dancer grabs her ring and the outside dancers reach over and grab their ring to release the ribbon.  the ribbon hangs down during the bow.  during the progressive strathspey, the middle dancers brings her arms together and moves the right ring under the left and into the left hand, and the ring from the left hand moves to the right hand (vis-a-versa for opposite direction). 

 

introduction

bars 1 and 2: stand as for bow.

bars 3 and 4: bow (count 1,2,3,4,5,6') rise on balls of feet, taking arms to 3rd position (count 7) hold (count 8).

 

bars 1 to 4

middle  person (dancer b)

bar 1: disassemble on lf, taking rf to to third rear aerial position (count 1), spring landing rf taking lf to fourth intermediate aerial position (count 2), spring onto lf, taking rf to thrid rear aerial position (count 3), execute round-the leg movement with rf to third aerial position and extend to fourth intermediate aerial position (& 4)

bar 2: repeat bar 1 with opposite foot.

bars 3 & 4: repeat bars 1 & 2

 

out side people:

dancer a execute four progressive strathspey movements, beginning with the right foot, making a half circle to switch places with dancer c.  dancer a will make a slight larger half circle and move along the outside while dancer c passed underneath a's ribbon.

dancer c execute four progressive strathspey movements, beginning with the left foot, making a half circle to switch places with dancer a.  dancer c will make a slightly smaller half circle and pass underneath dancer a's ribbon.

repeat bars 1 to 4

 

outside people (dancers a and c) :

stand in first position

 

bars 9 to 12

 

middle person (dancer b):

repeat bars 1 to 4

 

outside people (dancers a and c) :

repeat bars 1 to 4, using opposite position instructions.
